Mr. José Pomales Lopez, a graduate of the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio, has been named the new Regional Director for the Midwest. He will organize and coordinate with the local representations of PRSSA in the Midwest and promote the association in the following states: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, North Dakota, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
Pomales was born in Guayama, Puerto Rico on December 9, 1983. He attended Guamaní Private School in Guayama, graduating in 2002. Later, he attended the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio, obtaining his Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and International Studies, with a concentration in Human Rights, in 2007.
While an undergraduate, Pomales was President of the Latino Student Organization, President of the International Students Club and a member of the International Tae Kwan Do Club and the Jin Jow Pai Kung-Fu Academy. Pomales spent the summer of 2005 studying in Segovia, Spain and then participated in the Institute for Shipboard Education’s Semester at Sea program during the spring of 2006, visiting 12 foreign countries in the process. He was also inducted into Sigma Delta Pi, a Spanish honor society.
Pomales currently intends to pursue graduate studies and acquire a Master’s Degree and a Doctoral Degree in Demography.
