President José Cabrera appointed a Treasurer and a new Secretary General for the National Board of Directors of the Puerto Rico Statehood Students Association, Inc. (PRSSA). Effective immediately, Ms. Adrianna Burgos will serve as Treasurer and Mr. Javier Aguilú will serve as Secretary General.
Burgos graduated from Academia Perpetuo Socorro High School in 2008 and enrolled in the University of Puerto Rico, where she expects to receive a degree in Marketing and Economics. Burgos worked as an assistant to State Representative Junior Perez in the Puerto Rico House of Representatives’ Housing Commission from 2007 to 2008 and as a press assistant for the Luis Fortuño 2008 gubernatorial campaign. In addition to now overseeing the Association’s finances, she will continue her work as Communications Director in Puerto Rico and as Treasurer of the UPR-Rio Piedras Chapter.
Aguilú graduated from Colegio Marista High School in 2003 and moved to Orlando, Florida to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering at the University of Central Florida. He previously served as the PRSSA’s Florida Director and developed multimedia for the Association. He will now oversee the internal management of the Association.
Ms. Astrid Martinez, the outgoing Secretary, will continue her work establishing the PRSSA in the key city of Ponce and the south region of Puerto Rico. On behalf of all PRSSA members nationwide, the National Board of Directors commends and thanks Ms. Martinez for ensuring the PRSSA’s success over the course of this year and into the future. We wish her the best as she pursues her Juris Doctor degree at the Pontifical Catholic University of Ponce’s School of Law.
