Obama names Fortuño to Council of Governors

Former PRSSA President and current Puerto Rico Governor Luis G. Fortuño and nine other governors were nominated by President Barack Obama to a bipartisan commission aimed at improving coordination of efforts between state and federal agencies to address matters of defense and national security.

The Council of Governors was created Jan. 11 to work together with federal agencies “the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of Homeland Security, and other defense and national security advisors to exchange views, information and advice on matters of mutual interest pertaining to the National Guard, homeland defense, synchronization and integration of state and federal military activities in the United States, and civil support activities,” the White House said.
